I NEED TO VENTleeluhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05605098177271586550noreply@blogger.comBlogger11100tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121362846387911491.post-46310352699554902692007-10-28T15:10:00.000-07:002007-10-28T16:15:13.866-07:00It was a beautiful day in Newcastle n.s.w, so me and a few friends took our young children for a day at our local beach.The water was brilliantly clear and the kids hopped in straight away.Within 15 minutes of swimming one of our children,a 5 year old girl came screaming out of the water.She had been stung on both legs and fingertips by bluebottles,her mother rushed her up to the lifesaving club for some first aid,she returned with her still screaming child very dissapointed.The little girl is extremely sensitive to all types of bites so when she returned there was big red welts on her legs.<br /> There is no cure for bluebottle stings and most of the remedys people use to treat the sting do little to nothing.In recent years however there has been research to strongly suggest that hot water as hot as can be tolerated is the best to beat the sting see <a href="http://health.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=103388">.</a><a href="http://health.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=103388">http://health.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=103388</a><br />Unfortunately when i asked my friend if she had asked for hot water she replyed sadly that she had asked for hot water but was refused because it was for members only and it was suggested that if she lived locally to go home.So still in pain we took the girl up the road to a local take-away shop where the nice people gave her half a bucket of warm water,and she was fine.<br /> This makes me extremely angry since its the first 1-5 minutes of a bluebottle sting that gives the worst pain.since lifesavers are supposed to be there to help its very dissapointing.I can understand lifesaving clubs are community funded and rely on donations and memberships to exsist,I know that hot water costs money but surely they could work something out.I would be willing to pay for the water if it relieved my child of their pain..........I will be taking a themos from now on.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/8121362846387911491-4631035269955490269?l=myhotairvent.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>leeluhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05605098177271586550noreply@blogger.com0
